Curtiss Hawk 3

Hawk 3

The Curtiss Hawk series originated in the USA in 1922, and was steadily developed in various forms through to 1938. This aircraft is one of 24 of the Curtiss Model 68B delivered to Thailand during
1935-36. Some of these aircraft were active until 1949. Note the way the undercarriage is designed to retract into the lower fuselage, a slightly unusual feature in a biplane.

This Hawk appears to carry no serial numbers, although the insignia on the rear fuselage may be an earlier version of the one displayed on the museum's Bearcat. One source quotes an engine number of 23399 for this machine.
